Business Model Canvas (Osterwalder, 2010) is a framework that lets you see the entire business on one A3 sheet. 9 blocks: Customer Segments (for whom?), Value Propositions (what do you offer?), Channels (how do you deliver?), Customer Relationships (what relationship?), Revenue Streams (how do you earn?), Key Resources (what do you need?), Key Activities (what do you do?), Key Partners (who do you work with?), Cost Structure (what are the costs?).
Filling in the Canvas often reveals unexpected weak points: an unclear primary customer segment, revenue dependent on a single channel, a mismatch between key activities and resources. Filling in a competitor's Canvas is also a useful competitive analysis exercise.
